Akile Eugene, 26 /

A TUNAPUNA man was shot dead yesterday morning near his home in what police described as a gang-related attack.
In a separate incident on Friday night in Morvant, another man was murdered.
Up to last night police were unable to establish a motive for the killing.
Police said around 7 a.m. Sean Joseph, 33, of Lovell Trace, Tunapuna was liming near his home when a gunman walked up to him and opened fire. The shooter then ran off.
Residents who heard the gunshots later came out to investigate and after finding Joseph on the road they picked him up and took him to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Homicide Bureau officers later visited the scene and are continuing investigations.
In the other incident, police said around 8.30 p.m. on Friday residents of Upper St Francois Valley Road, Morvant heard several gunshots coming from a house in the area and contacted the police.
When officers arrived on the scene they found the victim, Akile Eugene, 26, with a single gunshot to the back.
Officers took him to the Port of Spain General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
In another report the body of a man was found bound and gagged around 9 a.m. yesterday in Caura. Police have not yet identified the victim. Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations.

    Edi Farrell, 23 Anthony Lalla, 26

    TWO men who police said were “laying low” in the one-room apartment of a friend in St Joseph were found yesterday morning executed by the people they may have been hiding from.
    Police said the men were not known to the area but later yesterday afternoon they were identified as Edi Farrell, 23, of Lemon Drive, Champs Fleurs and Anthony Lalla, 26, of Upper Quarry Drive, also in Champs Fleurs.
    Police said around 3 a.m. the killers broke down a door leading to a downstairs apartment at Albert Street, St Joseph where they found their targets asleep on a pair of bunk beds.

    2016 murder toll totaled 258

    The 2016 murder toll totaled 258 up to last night while the toll last year at this time was 231.

    Dillon Douglas, 22

    A 22-year-old man who police suspected was dealing in narcotics was shot dead on Wednesday night while he and a friend were standing at Balthazar Street, Tunapuna.
    Police said around 7.30 p.m. the murder victim, Dillon Douglas, 22, and Sheldon Baboolal were standing at Balthazar Street when a car slowed down near them.
    A man in the front passenger seat leaned out, pointed a gun at the two men and opened fire.
    Douglas was struck five times and died on the spot.
    Baboolal was shot as well but neighbours who were nearby and heard the gunshots contacted the police and they arrived and took Baboolal to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where he remained in stable condition yesterday.
    Douglas's body was eventually removed to the Port of Spain Mortuary and a post-mortem done yesterday concluded that he died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. Region 2 Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations.

    Carlene Grant, 44 years - MURDERED STAB

    HOURS after a female security officer who was on duty at a central community centre was stabbed and hammered to death a man who police described as an ex-lover walked into the Chaguanas Police Station where he surrendered.
    The security officer identified as Carlene Grant, 44, of John Elie Road, Chase Village in Chaguanas was employed with the National Maintenance, Training and Security (MTS) Company Limited and was on duty at the 
    Waterloo Community Centre, Carapichaima, when she was attacked. - Express

    Kerwyn “Mikey” Prescott, 27 years - MURDERED GUNSHOT


    A PH driver and father of one who survived being shot last year was shot and killed yesterday in front of his family's house in Laventille.
    Police said that at 12.15 p.m., Kerwyn “Mikey” Prescott, 27, was in front of his family's home at Trou Macaque, Laventille when a vehicle stopped near him.
    One of the occupants called out to him and when he turned around the man shot him seven times about the body, killing him on the spot.
    The killer then fled the scene in the car.
    Neighbours who heard the gunshot than contacted the police and a party of Besson Street CID officers along with Crime Scene Unit specialists conducted enquiries.
    Police said he had been shot late last year in Mango Alley, Laventille and he was also suspected of being a getaway driver in a shooting incident earlier this year in Port of Spain near the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
    Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations.

    Isaiah Hospedales, 22 Years - Murdered (Gun Shot)

    A 22-year-old man’s decision to wear a large gold chain while liming with friends on Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook cost him his life early yesterday morning when he was ambushed, shot and killed for his jewelry.
    His killer grabbed the chain and ran away as his victim lay dying. - Express

    Ashton Hamlet, 26 years - Murdered (Gunshot)

    A TACARIGUA man’s attempt to stop another man from beating a woman resulted in him being beaten, then shot dead outside a bar in Malabar early yesterday morning.
    Police said the first incident occurred around 5.30 a.m. when the victim, Ashton Hamlet, 26, was at the Pro Bar along Malabar Branch Road.
    As he was leaving the bar he observed an argument between a man and a woman in a car.
    Hamlet approached the car and told the man about his behaviour toward the woman.
    The man then started arguing with Hamlet.
    Another man joined the argument both began beating Hamlet about the body.
    As Hamlet lay on the ground, the man walked to his car, got a gun and approached Hamlet, shooting him in the chest killing him instantly, police said.
    The two men and the woman then fled the scene.
    Arima CID officers along with Crime Scene Unit investigators later arrived and after retrieving evidence the body was moved to the Port of Spain Mortuary.
    A post-mortem is expected to be done tomorrow at the Forensic Science Centre, St James.
    Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations.
    The other incident occurred around 8 a.m. at Clifford Street, Belmont.
    Police said Jude Corbie, 23, was walking along the street when a car slowed near him.
    A man in the vehicle pointed a gun at Corbie and shot him several times about the body, killing him on the spot.
    The car sped away.
    Residents contacted police and Emergency Health Services but Corbie was already dead by the time they arrived.
    Police suspect that the motive behind Corbie’s death may have stemmed from an altercation he had with another man on Friday night.
    Police are searching for the man. - Express

    Kyle Francis, 20 years & Alex Smith, 23 years - MURDERED - SHOT

    A LAW student and his cousin were shot dead while his father and uncle are in critical condition at hospital during an attack on the family in Williamsville early yesterday. 
    The dead young men have been identified as Kyle Francis, 20, and Alex Smith, 23. 
    They were both shot behind their heads.
